Grand Prairie Wildlife Removal Tip of the Month: When Excluding Texas Bats, Don't Forget These TOP Materials!

It is quite uncommon to find a bat in your Grand Prairie house. Most of the time, they prefer to live in large colony away from the human activities. However, once their natural habitat has been destroyed, they will look for an alternative place to live and that would probably be the obscure areas of our house such as our attic, barns, and chimneys. A few bats in your house are rarely source of concern, but if you are facing a full-blown infestation, then you may find this experience a bit complex.

List of Materials Needed for Bat Exclusion

Bats are protected under the Texas law; you are not allowed to disturb their roosting ground especially during the breeding season. Furthermore, you are not allowed in any way to cause them unnecessary suffering when getting rid of them. Perhaps the best method would be excluding them. You need to prepare the necessary materials in order to use this method without any hitch.

Bat Excluder

This equipment is specifically designed to exclude Grand Prairie bats. This is created from smooth material that will allow the bats to flap its wings without causing it harm. Just like the other exclusion device, this won't allow the creature to return inside. The idea behind using smooth material in creating a bat excluder is due to the fact that the bats can roost on rough materials.

Sealing Materials

Bats have a tendency to return to their Texas roost. In order for the excluder to work effectively, you will need to prepare sealing materials. Bats can enter any hole that is about 8mm in diameter. You will need to prepare suitable materials to seal the hole. Just like the bat excluder, you need to use soft materials. Avoid using hardware cloth and wire mesh where they can roost.

Caulking or boards are ideal sealing material to use. Silicone material is also excellent in sealing holes. However, you should make sure that it stays clean since any dirt will make the silicone ineffective. Polymastic can also be used in covering the holes. Furthermore, you may also use it as a material to fix the exclusion device on your walls. We do not recommend you to use expanding foams since it will contract when directly exposed to sunlight. This will create gaps that the bats can use as entry points.

Adhesives

Adhesives will be used to fix the bat excluder in your Texas walls. Electrical tapes and duct tapes will usually be sufficient. Since the exclusion device will just be installed temporarily, you don't want your wood materials to be damaged. If you are affixing the exclusion device on a brick or stone building, a nail gun would be appropriate. Some people use polymastic but this is a semi-permanent option. The better alternative would be staple gun. This will keep the exclusion device secured while preventing severe damage to the woods.

To ensure that your removal method will proceed without any hitch, be sure to prepare all the necessary Grand Prairie materials and equipments first. Read the instruction carefully from the manufacturer when installing the device.
